I overheard someone on the phone a little while back. They were from Huntsville and had somehow ended up in our neck of the woods… aka Guntersville.
I didn’t catch much of the conversation, but I did hear them say this “Man… I’m out here in the middle of nowhere.”
Honestly, I was a little taken aback.
Part of me wanted to say, “The middle of nowhere? We’re only 45 minutes from Huntsville!” But I didn’t say anything. And for some reason, I keep thinking about it.
Maybe because it made me a little sad that someone visited our area and didn’t see it the way we do.
Do they know what they’re missing out on?
So here’s your sign: if you live in Madison County, Huntsville, Madison, Decatur, Hampton Cove, etc… you’re less than an hour away from a town called Guntersville, and this is what you could be missing out on:
• Lake Guntersville
• Delicious local food spots, many right on the water
• Walking and hiking trails with incredible views
• Beautiful sunsets over the lake
• One of the most relaxing spas around
• Free concerts in the downtown park on Thursdays
• Locally owned boutiques and shops downtown
• City Harbor at Lake Guntersville
• Renting a pontoon boat and watching Fourth of July fireworks from the water
• Fantastic bakeries
• Campsites and Lake Beaches
• And so much more
Guntersville will never be “the middle of nowhere” to us. This is home.
It’s the kind of place people dream about slowing down long enough to enjoy.
If you’re close by, make time to stop in😉
